My cousin's little girl celebrated her first birthday and I wanted to make her something girly and homemade. I tried to think of shapes that would make cute, huggable plushies and the butterfly was perfect. I wanted it to be a rag butterfly, so I left the edges out and helped them fray a bit. I also added some extra love by giving the butterfly coordinating ribbon antennae. I could have made the antennae longer and turned the butterfly into a tag plushie, but I will save that for a newborn. I like the end result, and I learned of things to improve the outcome next time.
